Does anyone know where he played before?

He is stated to have been manager of Fortuna Geelen (1965-66) (Cahiers de l'Equipe Football 1967), it would be nice if someone could be able to confirm it.

Yes he was manager of Fortuna '54 in 1965-66

He was manager of Le Havre AC from 1968 to 1971 ( division d'honneur then "national" = level 2 in 1970/71)
