not an easy task
Mike wrote:This is a general ''problem'' in Swiss football journalism when researching. One hardly finds birth places in player profiles, mostly profiles contain the player's ''Stammklub'' (player's first youth club).
This has to do, I believe, with the fact that in Swiss passports one doesn't have the place of birth in it, but the ''Heimatort'' or ''Bürgerort''. This expression can't be translated with "home town'', as it is the place where the father's ancestors originally come from, and is, these days, seldom the place of birth or the place where one grew up. It is a legal term that has it's roots in the mediaeval times... one of these weird peculiarities of Switzerland...

Ergo, the place of birth doesn't seem to be important in Switzerland...
cheers

but possible
