Is it so difficult to find out? Strange...

The world soccer list is the one that was submitted to the UEFA, but some of the players pulled out and these are the ones who actually went to Sweden.

Thanks for your latest informations...

Nevertheless, I think there is one name missing in the list provided by Golem, which is Miroslav Djukic's one, because according to my own informations there was 18 players already in Sweden the moment that UEFA decided to ban Yugoslavia from participating in the European Championship Finals, not only 17... Am I right?

Besides this, I cannot find enough details about Ivan Cabrinovic... Who was he?

Some more details about this issue:

Just today I have found among my papers this figure about the Yugoslavian national who actually travelled to Sweden before they knew that they weren't going to be allowed to. There is a book about the great ex-yugoslavian football player Predrag Mijatovic published in Spain at the time of the FIFA World Cup in 1998, where you can find the following information:

"In fact, when the participation of the Yugoslavian national team is suspended, there are already in Sweden a group of 18 players: eight from Serbia, six from Montenegro, one from Bosnia, one from Macedonia and two more from Slovenia."

After reading this, I tried to figure out who they could be, taking into account those numbers, but it is a hard task, anyway...

The eight players from Serbia could be: Dragan Stojkovic, Vladimir Jugovic, Slavisa Jokanovic, Miroslav Djukic, Slobodan Dubajic, Gordan Petric, Sinisa Mihajlovic, and.... ??? (I don't have any idea about who the other serbian player missed here can be - Vladan Lukic? Vlada Stosic? Goran Milojevic? Goran Bogdanovic?)
The six ones from Montenegro: Dejan Savicevic, Predrag Mijatovic, Budimir Vujacic, Branko Brnovic, Dragoje Lekovic, Dusko Radinovic
I don't have the slightest clue about the guy from Bosnia, but I can imagine he can be either Risto Vidakovic or Milorad Ratkovic, as they both were born in Bosnia, and Vidakovic belonged at that time to FK Sarajevo)
The player from Macedonia was obviously Vujadin Stanojkovic, so Ilija Najdoski wasn't in the final list.
And finally, the two slovenians are Darko Milanic and Dzoni Novak

Greetings from Spain

Alfredo

Yes, I already saw that web site some time ago...

It is not possible that the Bosnian was Faruk Hadzibegic, and it is not possible because according to all the sources I have been able to check so far are clear about one point: Faruk Hadzibegic, like his country fellows Meho Kodro and Mehmed Bazdarevic, decided to follow Ivica Osim's example and not to play with the Yugoslavian national team anymore as a result of the bombings Sarajevo was suffering and all the war events in Bosnia. The same thing was done by Ilija Najdoski and Darko Pancev, from Macedonia, after they realized the country was going to split rather soon. The only possibility of someone from Bosnia playing for Yugoslavia at that moment was that the player could have had a Serbian origin (like Risto Vidakovic's case). That was something similar happening at that time with Sinisa Mihajlovic (described as a "croatian" guy in many reports of those years). He was born in Vukovar, Croatia, but he had a Serbian origin and that was the reason why he didn't support the choice taken by Zvonimir Boban, Davor Suker or Robert Prosinecki (100 per cent croatian players), so I guess the case with the Bosnian footballer should have been a similar one to that of Mihajlovic's.

ok.. :-D you're really informed...
but is it possible that the list can't be found anywhere? They already left for Sweden, so there must be some newspaper or Yugoslav Federation bulletin or UEFA announcement or something like.....!

That's the same thing that I thought when I began my research... around one year ago... But it is like all traces about that list have dissapeared. The newspapers published at that time I have been able to read (mainly Spanish and Italian ones), don't include any names... they only give numbers (like how many Yugoslavian players were called or travelled to Sweden), but they don't say names... As you, Christian, are from Italy, it is possible for you to check one thing: there was a friendly match played by AC Fiorentina against the Yugoslavian national team, just before this national team departed to Sweden (26 May 1992)... AC Fiorentina won that match 2-1 (goals scored by Pietro Maiellaro, min. 68 and Di Pergola, min. 84, for the Italian side, and Slavisa Jokanovic, min. 60, for the slavs). Maybe if you could find out the line-ups of that game, it would be possible to have a more clear picture about this complicated issue.

Greetings

There's been a lot of speculation as to what the original squad was supposed to be. Here it is, with Ivica Osim as coach:

GOLMANI

Fahrudin Omerovi? (r. 1961, Doboj, SR Bosna i Hercegovina) Partizan Beograd
