Hello, all together I have a question concerning the UEFA Cup match on 15.10.1996 of French side FC Metz against Sporting Lissabon: According to Ionescus book on UEFa-Cup history and another web scource the referee of this match was Michael Reed. But this man already umpired the match Mönchengladbach vs. Monaco on the same date. So who is the right one?

Additionaly it would be fantastic if someone could help me with bookings of the two matches (first and second leg) between these two teams?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Alex,

It's a mystery indeed... French sources give Mr Reed as referee for both matches Metz-Sporting and M'Gladbach-Monaco...
I'll have a deeper look at it soon, and hope to sort this out.

Bookings
Metz-Sporting (15 Oct 96) : Arpinon 57 / Marco Aurelio 13, Amunike 47, Ouattara 63, Gil Baiano 81.
Sporting-Metz (29 Oct 96) : Beto 39, Iordanov 66 / Letizi 57 - Pierre sent off 85.
