A Spanish Striker José (or Josep) BILBAO signed in the summer 1946 for Girondins Bordeaux and stayed in French professional football only one season.

He was born around 1923
French paper writes that he arrived from... Coventry.
I didn't find him there or in the Spanish league.
Can someone help on him?
Thanks in advance
José BILBAO

He played in the unofficial 1945-46 season for Coventry: 5 matches 1 goal ,Left Wing

He played in the Spanish first division for Bilbao, just like Emilio Aldecoa Gomez, who played for Coventry at the same time

I don´t think he was called "Josep" as he was basque and "Josep" is a name from Catalonia.
Also added some missing seasons.

Aldecoa:
English Electric
1943 Wolverhampton Wanderers Football League North (First Competition) 15-8
1943-44 Wolverhampton Wanderers Football League North (Second Competition) 15-3
1944 Wolverhampton Wanderers Football League North (First Competition) 8-2
1944-45 Wolverhampton Wanderers Football League North (Second Competition) 6-2 + 2-0 in League Cup North
1945-46 Coventry City 30-6
This is all unofficial. The Wolverhampton seasons are undefined, you can write the stats in the notes. 1945-46 can be added we need this season in the database because the FA Cup was official this season.
1946-47 Coventry City 29-0 this is a normal season

Djizmah, you are probably right his first name is José and not Josep
Josep was written in Barreaud (Dictionnaire des footballeurs étrangers), p. 145
There are some other Spanish players in the French League 1946-47 like
José Ortiz (Le Havre)
http://www.playerhistory.com/Default.as ... erID=88374 who played only that season in Division 1. He may be, as his teammate Garcia an immigrant who came during the war (or even earlier)

Djizmah: The seasons you added for José Bilbao:
Does this mean the lfp site is wrong?
they say 1939-41 Zaragoza was Victor Bilbao Iturbe born 26-2-1913
and 1941-43 was José Bilbao Echevarry born 30-10-1919

When I look at the line-ups of the matches played by Bilbao E I see 3 appearances in 1941-42 as a left winger.( this seems to be the preferred position by Bilbao M.) The others are all as Rightwinger or midfielder maybe even Central defender (Sevilla) In those days players were often much more versatile than they are now. So it's possible that http://www.lfp.es is right. I don't know how accurate the records of the Spanish FA are. It would be interesting to compair lfp stats with stats from a good clubsource, just to check how accurate they really are.
