Leading Colombian Players Herman Cordoba & Mario Beltran Die In Car Crash

Colombian football is in deep sorrow as two players from the country's domestic league died on Sunday (20/9/2009) after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a bus and caught fire.
La Nacion reported that Atletico Huila's Herman Cordoba and Mario Beltran died incinerated while Juan Camilo Restrepo and two other passengers are in severe state at the Universitario de Neiva hospital. An unnamed women also lost her life in the car crash.
This all occurred after Huila, the Colombian league leaders, won on Saturday against cellar-dwellers Pereira 2-1. Cordoba, the team's leading scorer, scored a goal in the game for the Bambuqueros.
Cordoba, 20, was also the third leading scorer in the Colombian league with seven goals, one goal behind Colombian internationals Jackson Martinez and Teofilo Gutierrez.
